The September issue – is it time for a change?
September has always been about change, an energy shift after a long lazy summer. It's connected to going 'back-to-school' after the holiday. It triggers old memories – a new uniform, a snazzy new pencil case, a new class and a fresh curriculum for the year ahead. September was always a blend of excitement and apprehension.
It’s been a while since I was at school but I spent years working in fashion retail and by now we’d be down to the very last of the sale stock and I’d be wearing the new collection. Maybe it’s time to turn the wardrobe – it doesn’t feel like summer is coming back anytime soon.
Talking of fashion, the September issue of Vogue was always the biggest and most important. It even had a behind-the-scenes documentary made in its honour!
And for job seekers, September is when the job market starts to buzz again. It’s a window of opportunity for anyone on the market (or considering a move) before the festive season.
Will it be different this year?
This September issue
I know a lot of people aren't feeling excited right now and it's understandable.
Maybe you feel a bit flat too?
Some of my clients have told me that it feels like nothing much has happened over the past 18 months and that life has been on hold. They're wondering how to 'sell' themselves when they've been furloughed or made redundant. How to talk about results and achievements when the big projects are shelved and it's back to basics. And how do you raise your profile at work when you’re WFH?
Even though it feels like your career has been on the back burner during this time of rapid change – you’ve been growing as a person. Is it time for a change or a reset?
If you feel stuck or you’re struggling to see the way forward I wrote this recent blog especially for you:
Your career has been interrupted – so what are you going to do about it?
Would you like my help?
I’ve been looking back over careers, spotting talent and potential opportunities for others for many years.
But I know from experience, it’s not easy to do that for yourself.
When I was looking for answers working with my coach gave me breathing space and dedicated ‘Me’ time to work out my options. She helped me to find the courage and confidence I needed to make my move into the unknown.
I can do that for you.
Don’t suffer in silence. If you feel stuck, out of options, if your confidence has taken a knock, lost your September mojo, need support – I'm here.
